Tablescapes and Other Interesting Ideas

Margaret sent me a few pics of small tablescapes.  I LOVE tablescapes, which is a design concept I would define as thus: using a collection of similar items to create a small scene that conveys texture, emotion, and visual contrast.

Tablescapes are a great way to mix and match containers, flowers, and height.  They can be tailored to work for punchy cocktail parties or stylish soirees!

  1. I'm not sure how well a tablescape would fit into our budget, but I'm open to a tablescape if you think it's something that we could do. I like the colors of the first table, but I do think it's a little formal. Since we're going to have circular tables, I'd love to have herbs and "wildflower-looking" flowers in vases or container of different heights at the centers of the tables.

  2. As far as budget is concerned, it really just depends on how many tables you have.

Since you are using 60" rounds, then you are right - this is probably not a great choice for you and could look too busy. I posted these pics because you send me one photo of another tablescape so it seemed like it appealed to you.

If you want to stick with the outdoor theme then using small metal pails or mason jars filled with flowers could work great.

Wildflowers can tend to look messy though, so if you find that you really don't like "busy" arrangements then you might want to use something on a larger scale like vases of cut branches.
